Range-bound again; Wipro, Bharti drop 3%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 200 points at 8,901, and soon touched a low of 8,887. The index, thereafter, recovered partially and touched a high of 9,051. The index is now down 141 points at 8,960.

HDFC, ICICI Bank and Tata Power have plunged nearly 4.5% each to Rs 1,417, Rs 380 and Rs 737, respectively.

Sterlite has slumped 4% to Rs 248. Reliance Infrastructure has dropped 3.3% to Rs 534.

Ranbaxy and Wipro have slipped 3% each to Rs 208 and Rs 221, respectively.

DLF and Bharti Airtel have declined 2.7% each to Rs 184 and Rs 599, respectively.

 

Grasim and Mahindra & Mahindra are down 2.5% each at Rs 1,183 and Rs 293, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has moved up 2.5% to Rs 252.

Hindalco and ITC are up nearly 1.5% each at Rs 49 and Rs 173, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,118 stocks traded so far, 1,161 have declined, 865 have advanced and 92 are unchanged.
