Rationalisation Of Excise Duty On Textile Products Sought

The Indian Cotton Mills Federation (ICMF) has urged for an across-the-board rationalisation of excise duty on textile products. It has also asked for reduction in the customs duty on certain raw materials in the textile sector.

It has also asked for the abolition of the five per cent import duty on raw cotton and reduction in the excise duty on man-made and blend fibres and processed fabrics.

In its pre-budget memorandum, ICMF chairman R Jaipuria said:
