Refined oil prices rose by Rs 5.55 to Rs 637.75 per 10 kg in futures trade today, as traders indulged in enlarging their positions to meet the marriage season demand.

Restricted arrivals from overseas markets also supported the rise in prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in March rose by Rs 5.55, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 637.75 per 10 kg, with a business volume of 16 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in April gained by Rs 4.55, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 645.30 per 10 kg, with a business turnover in one lot.

Analysts said increased buying by speculators to meet the marriage season demand in the domestic market, mainly led to the rise in refined soya oil futures prices.
