Refined soya sheds 0.46% on sluggish demand

Traders trim positions in futures deals as rising stocks maintain downward pressure

Refined soya oil prices fell by 0.46 per cent to Rs 689.10 per 10 kg in futures trade today after speculators reduced their holdings amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in June fell by Rs 3.20, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 689.10 per 10 kg with an open interest of 77,710 lots.

The May contract shed Rs2.65, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 716 per 10 kg in 52,790 lots.

Analysts said speculators reduced their positions amid subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly kept pressure on refined soya oil prices at futures trade.
