Reliance, Bharti still firm; Sensex down 63pts

The markets have recouped some of its early losses amid buying in select heavyweights and steady recovery in select old economy stocks, although most of the counters are still exhibiting weak trends.

The Sensex, which slumped by over 110 points in mid-morning trades, is now down 63 points at 6,396. The Nifty has moved above the 2,000 mark, and is now down 29 points at 2,003.

ITC has scaled down 1.48% (Rs 19) to Rs 1,275. HLL is trading lower by 1.14% (Rs 2) at Rs 143. Reliance, however, is still exhibiting gains at Rs 533 - up Rs 3.

Infosys is down 1.19% (Rs 24) at Rs 2,027. While Satyam has slipped nearly 2% (Rs 7) to Rs 383, Wipro has trimmed its losses to Rs 695 - down Rs 11 or 1.59%.

SBI is trading with a loss of 1.34% (Rs 8) at Rs 609. HDFC Bank at Rs 490 (down Rs 9 or 1.72%) and ICICI Bank at Rs 359 (down Rs 2) are also exhibiting weak trends.

Bajaj is trading at its earlier loses at Rs 1,069 - down Rs 28 or 2.58%.

Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja are trading slightly over a per cent loss each at Rs 1,288 and Rs 420, respectively. ACC is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 345.

Hindalco has shed 2.12% (Rs 29) to Rs 1,388. While L&T has dropped 2.17% (Rs 21) to Rs 937, Tata Power has declined 2.46% (Rs 9) to Rs 377. Tisco is down 1.55% (Rs 6) at Rs 363.

Bharti, however, continues to trade at higher levels with a spurt of 2.28% (Rs 5) at Rs 215.
