 The 30-scrip index rose by 126.35 points, or 2.64 per cent, and ended at 4,906.87. During intra-day trades, it touched a low of 4,779.09 and a high of 4,913.18. The S&P CNX Nifty, meanwhile, closed at 1,555.90, up by 39.05 points, or 2.57 per cent.

 The Sensex has gained 104.59 points and the Nifty 33.95 points during the week. The markets have been on the rise for the past four sessions on positive quarterly results.

 Shares in Reliance Industries were up by 1.76 per cent and ended at Rs 486.30, ITC was up 0.97 per cent at Rs 868.70 and State Bank of India closed at Rs 484.20, up by 0.80 per cent over its previous day's close.

 Auto, cement and pharmaceutical stocks were in the limelight on good buying support. Tata Motors' stock was up 2.94 per cent at Rs 374.50, Bajaj Auto was up 1.89 per cent at Rs 915.25, and Hero Honda Motors was up 9.11 per cent at Rs 353.45.

 ACC appreciated by 4.69 per cent to Rs 214.20, Gujarat Ambuja Cements was up by 3.54 per cent at Rs 252.70 and Larsen & Toubro increased by 3.53 per cent to Rs 406.75.

 Technology stocks edged up on hopes of a strong US economic growth. Bellwether Infosys Technologies gained by 3.03 per cent to close at Rs 4,741.45, HCL Technologies was up by 5.46 per cent at Rs 216.50 and Satyam Computer Services was up by 5.66 per cent at Rs 306.10.

 Shares in ICICI Bank appreciated by up 8.03 per cent and ended at Rs 248.10. Grasim Industries rose by 6.66 per cent to Rs 858.25.

 In pharma segment, Cipla was up by 5.80 per cent at Rs 1,298.60, Ranbaxy Laboratories increased by 3.67 per cent to Rs 983.15, GSK Pharma was up 1.83 per cent at Rs 477.75 and Dr Reddy's Laboratories was up 1.13 per cent at Rs 1,195.20.

 Reliance Energy was up by 6.47 per cent at Rs 477.70, Hindalco gained by 4.17 per cent to close at Rs 1,098.45, Tata Steel appreciated by 3.03 per cent to close at Rs 358.45.

 Zee Telefilms' stock lost 1.90 per cent and ended at Rs 136.90. MTNL too declined by 1.28 per cent to close at Rs 108.40.

 Shares in Century Textiles zoomed by 13.33 per cent to end at Rs 106.25. Those of GE Shipping were up by 9.99 per cent at Rs 95.80.
