Rice basmati and jowar prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on pick up in demand against tight supply.
Traders said fresh buying by stockists, following pick up in retailers demand due to the ongoing marriage season led to the rise in rice basmati prices.
Increased industrial demand helped jowar prices to move up, they said.
In the national capital, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety remained in demand and advanced by Rs 50 to Rs 4,950-5,550 per quintal.
Jowar yellow also seen in industrial demand and gained Rs 50 to Rs 950-1050 per quintal.
