Robust demand lifts copra prices

Copra prices rallied further at the spices market here today on consistent demand from stockists and exporters as well as higher offtake from millers amid restricted arrivals. 

Copra office Alapuzha jumped by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 6,100 from its overnight close of Rs 5,900 and copra office Kozhikode spurted by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 5,900 as against Rs 5,750.

Copra edible Mumbai also rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 7,700 from Rs 7,600 yesterday. Meanwhile, rest of all other spices closed steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying support.

Black pepper (per kg) 278/300 (278/300), ginger bleached (per kg) 170 (170), ginger unbleached (per kg) 185 (185), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,100 (5,900)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,900 (5,750), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,200 (9,200) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,700 (7,600)
