Robusta coffee rules high at ICTA auction

Robusta Parchments on sale at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction attracted good demand from exporters.

According to auctioneer Carritt Moran and Company, today's auction prices ruled firm to dearer. However, the demand for Arabicas was sluggish owing to wide differences between the asking prices and the international levels.

At the auction, of the 390 tonnes offered for sale (Arabica 272 tonnes, Robusta 118 tonnes), 76 tonnes were sold. Following are the prices quoted for grades in 50kg bags.

Arabica varieties: Arabica Plantation PB Rs 6,529 (quantity sold 2,985 kg), Arabica Plantation AA Rs 5,532 (2,258 kg), Arabica Plantation AB Rs 5,490 (3,965 kg), Arabica Plantation B Rs 4,800 (2,579 kg) Arabica Plantation C Rs 4,738 (2,179 kg) Arabica Plantation BBB Rs 3,950 (355kg).

Arabica Cherry PB Rs 4,358 (quantity sold 899 kg), Arabica Cherry AA Rs 4,925 (3,389 kg), Arabica Cherry AB Rs 4,590 (3,359 kg), Arabica Cherry B Rs 4,200 (1,709 kg) Arabica Cherry C Rs 3,331 (3,034 kg) Arabica Cherry BBB Rs 3,237 (1,433 kg).

Robusta varieties: Robusta Parchment PB Rs 3,950 (4,515 kg), Robusta Parchment AA Rs 4,320 (2,415 kg), Robusta Parchment AB Rs 4,242 (13,712 kg), Robusta Parchment C Rs 3,600 (1,890 kg), Robusta Parchment BBB Rs 3298 (3636 kg). Robusta Cherry PB Rs 3,395 (198 kg), Robusta Cherry AA Rs 3,700 (525 kg), Robusta Cherry AB Rs 3429 (615 kg) and Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 3,243 (7,932 kg).
