The raw materials division (RMD) of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has recorded the highest ever production and despatch in 2002-03.During this period it produced 11.8 million tonne or iron ore.
In the current fiscal, to meet the requirements of iron ore for record level of production of hot metal of about 8.35 million tonne by the three integrated steel plants at Bokaro, Durgapur and Rourkela, RMD has planned to supply about 13.59 million of iron ore, which is 15 per cent higher over the previous year.
RMD despatched to the eastern sector steel plants, Bokaro Rourkela and Durgapur11.8 million tonne, which is best since inception, registering a growth of 6 per cent over the previous year.
