A 24-member team of the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEAI) will leave for six-day visit of Malaysia on December 18 to understand local palm oil supply situation and price behaviour.

It will explore the possibility of importing palm kernel cake for processing in India.

The delegation will also study the possibility of technology transfer and explore joint venture opportunities in palm plantation and palm processing.

The other objectives include developing closer co-ordination with Malaysian palm oil organisations, enhancing mutual cooperation and exchange of information between Indian and Malaysian palm oil producers, exporters and importers as well as to study the Malaysian palm oil sector.

SEAI executive director B V Mehta said the team will meet the representatives of the Malaysian vegetable oil associations. The delegation would be led by SEAI president Bipin V Patel and immediate past president Sandeep Bajoria.
