Season 2 set to end higher |

With little over a month remaining for the closure of Smart Portfolios Season 2, it's going to be another successful year for our fund managers. An investment of Rs 10 lakh at the start of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2009, is now valued at Rs 11.79 lakh, up 18 per cent.
Ajay Parmar and Amar Ambani have outperformed the benchmark by a wide margin. While the former's net worth has soared over 38 per cent, the latter's portfolio value has appreciated by almost 47 per cent. Phani Sekhar, who joined the season a fortnight later, has seen gains of around 14.5 per cent, and finally Vinay Khattar, who replaced Praveen Panjwani mid-way, had logged net gains of 21.5 per cent.

Ajay Parmar's net worth is now valued at Rs 13.83 lakh, which includes investments of Rs 12.48 lakh. He has 27 stocks in his portfolio, of which Rallis India – up 64 per cent from cost price – is the top gainer. Excel Crop and Cadila Healthcare are the other major gainers. JM Financials and JK Tyres continue to remain major laggards in his portfolio, down 19 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively. Parmar still holds Rs 1.34 lakh in cash.
