The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged before the Gujarat High Court that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) Deputy General Manager, Avarjeet Singh, arrested in connection with a bribery case, is part of a larger nexus involved in illegal activities. The CBI had approached the high court, seeking a 12-day custody of Singh, after the lower court rejected their plea. Judge R H Shukla, who was hearing the case, has reserved the order after hearing the CBI and Singh’s lawyers. The order is likely on June 14.
