Select base metals down on global cues

Select base metals remained under pressure and prices of copper, zinc and nickel eased up to Re one per kg in the wholesale non-ferrous metal markets today in line with a weakening trend at the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap went down by Re one each to Rs 364, Rs 383 and Rs 342 per kilo, respectively.

Zinc ingot also shed 50 paise at Rs 118.50 per kilo, lead ingot and lead imported also moved down by 50 paisa to Rs 114.50 and Rs 117.50 per kilo. Marketmen said fall in base metal prices at overseas market dampened the trading sentiment here.
