Select base metal prices rose by Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on fresh demand from consuming industries, amid firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.
Sentiment turned better as copper rose in London, ending a three-day slide, as better-than-expected US economic data buoyed the demand outlook for the metal used in construction and household appliances.
Meanwhile, copper rose by 1.6 per cent to $9,137.50 zinc by 2.8 per cent to $2,283 and lead by 1.8 per cent to $2,407.25 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were recovered by Rs 2 each to Rs 460,Rs 484 and Rs 445, while zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported also traded higher by the same margin to Rs 132.50, Rs 136 and Rs 138 per kg.
