Select base metals soften on reduced industrial demand

Select base metal prices declined by up to Rs 5 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today owing to reduced industrial demand amid a weakening global trend.

Traders said reduced industrial offtake amid weak trend in its prices overseas mainly led to the fall in select base metal prices.   

Meanwhile, zinc lost 0.8% to $2,441 and lead shed 0.4% to $2,555 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange. 

In the national capital, zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were down by Rs 2 each to Rs 128.50, Rs 140 and Rs 143 per kg, respectively. Nickel (4x4) also shed Rs 5 to Rs 1,065-1,067 per kg.
