Select base metals strengthen on global cues

Select base metal prices rose by up to Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on increased buying by stockists influenced by a firming trend the London Metal Exchange.   

Trading sentiment bolster after copper surged to move closer to over a three-month high in global markets as US President Barack Obama said leaders of both parties in the US House and Senate have agreed to raise the debt limit.

Meanwhile, copper for three months delivery increased 0.7% to $9,894 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.   

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap strengthened by Rs 2 each to Rs 520, Rs 543 and Rs 503 per kg, respectively. 

 

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported traded higher by rupee one each to Rs 130.50, Rs 142 and Rs 145 per kg, respectively.
