Copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode prices dropped at the spices market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and retailers coupled with lower millers offtake.

Meanwhile, copra Rajapur spurted on the back of fresh domestic buying amidst restricted supply.

Copra office Alapuzha slumped by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 6,300 from Monday's closing level of Rs 6,450 and copra office Kozhikode fell by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 6,200 as compared to Rs 6,250 previously.

However, copra Rajapur Mumbai rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 7,900 from Rs 7,800 yesterday.

Rest of the spices closed steady owing to lack of worthwhile buying.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 235/249 (235/249), ginger bleached (per kg) 220 (220), ginger unbleached (per kg) 240 (240), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,300 (6,450)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,200 (6,250), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 7,900 (7,800) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,550 (7,550)
