Select copra hardens on steady demand

Copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode prices continued to rise at the spices market here today on persistent demand from stockists coupled with higher domestic offtake.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode firmed up by Rs 50 per quintal each to Rs 5,700 and Rs 5,600 from overnight closing level of Rs 5,650 and Rs 5,550, respectively.

Rest of the spices closed steady in the absence of worthwhile buying activity.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 233/247 (233/247), ginger bleached (per kg) 230 (230), ginger unbleached (per kg) 245 (245), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 5,700 (5,650)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,600 (5,550), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,200 (8,200) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 6,500 (6,500)
