Copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode prices rose at the spices market here today on increased buying by stockists and retailers coupled with good offtake from millers.

Meanwhile, copra Rajapur declined on subdued demand from bulk consumers on the back of adequate supply positions.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode both went up by Rs 125 per quintal each to Rs 6,725 and Rs 6,625, respectively from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 6,600 and Rs 6,500.

However, copra Rajapur Mumbai fell sharply by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 7,950 as compared to Rs 8,100 last weekend.

Rest of the spices closed stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying support.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 248/265 (248/265), ginger bleached (per kg) 165 (165), ginger unbleached (per kg) 195 (195), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,725 (6,600)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,625 (6,500), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 7,950 (8,100) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,500 (7,500)
