Select edible oils continued to decline for the second straight day by losing up to Rs 200 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on sluggish demand at existing higher levels amid weakening global trend.
However, coconut and vanaspati ghee rose on pick up in demand ahead of festival and marriage season. Traders said besides fall in demand from millers and retailers, weakening trend in global markets, also led to a decline in wholesale edible oil prices.
Meanwhile, palm oil futures for December-delivery dropped 0.6 per cent to $880 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery oil remained weak lost another Rs 200 to Rs 8,580 per quintal, while groundnut solvent refined eased by Rs 50 to Rs 1,450-1,460 per tin.
Mustard expeller oil (Dadri) remained weak and lost Rs 50 to Rs 5,350 per quintal. Palmolein (rbd) also shed Rs 10 to Rs 4,940 per quintal.
Meanwhile, vanaspati ghee and coconut oil traded higher to Rs 815-910 and Rs 1,225-1,275 against last close of Rs 750-860 and Rs 1,150-1,200 per tin respectively.

In the non-edible section, castor oil rose by Rs 200 to Rs 8,600-8,700 per quintal on increased industrial offtake.
