Select edible oil prices rose up to Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today largely on firming global trend.

Market analysts said fresh buying by vanaspati millers, driven by marriage season and firming trend in overseas market mainly, where palm oil surged to 35-month high in Kuala Lumpur, led to rise in select wholesale edible oil prices.

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for April-delivery rose 2.3 per cent to 35-month high of $1,280 a tonne in Kuala Lumpur on concern that a La Nina weather event that caused flooding in Asia and drought in South America may persist for a further four months.
