Select edible oil prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on fresh buying by vanaspati millers, supported by a firming trend in global markets.
However, non-edible oils ruled flat in restricted buying activity.
Buying activity in edible oils picked up after palm oil gained in global markets after soybeans climbed on concern that adverse weather in the next two weeks will erode crop prospects in the US, world's biggest producer and exporter.
Meanwhile, palm oil for the September delivery climbed 0.8% to $1,033 per tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,250 and Rs 5,850, while palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (kandla) oils traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,800 and Rs 5,500 per quintal, respectively.
