Select edible oil prices rose by up to Rs 30 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on emergence of buying by vanaspati millers amid a firming trend in Malaysia.
Trading sentiment turned better after palm oil gained in Malaysia on speculations that rising demand from India and China, the biggest buyers, may boost exports from Malaysia. Meanwhile, palm oil for the July delivery increased by 0.6% to $1,083 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
Besides firming trend at Malaysia, fresh buying by vanaspati millers led to rise in select wholesale edible oil prices. In the national capital, palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 5,860 and Rs 5,560, respectively.
Crude palm oil (ex-kandla) traded higher by Rs 30 to Rs 5,300 per quintal. Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils moved up by Rs 30 each to Rs 6,200 and Rs 5,850 per quintal, respectively.
