Select edible oils up on seasonal demand

The rising trend in select edible oil prices remained unabated for the fourth straight day today, as prices rose further by Rs 50 per quintal on increased buying by vanaspati millers for the ongoing marriage season, amid a firm overseas trend.

Neem oil in the non-edible section, also went up on increased industrial offtake.    

Sentiments remained firm, as palm oil prices rose in Malaysia on increased buying by exporters in Malaysia, the world's second-biggest palm grower.

Meanwhile, palm oil prices rose 2.9 per cent to $1,041 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.

In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Delhi) oils remained in demand and advanced by Rs 20 and Rs 40 to Rs 5,740 and Rs 5,100, respectively, while palmolein (rbd) gained Rs 20 to Rs 5,650 per quintal, largely in tandem with the firm global trend. 

In line with a general firm trend, sesame and cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) oils moved up by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,150 and Rs 5,200 per quintal, respectively. 

In the non-edible section, neem oil also went up by Rs 50 to Rs 3,850-3,950 per quintal on increased offtake by soap units.
