Select grains up on industrial demand

Prices of select grains jowar rose by Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on increased industrial offtake against restricted arrivals from the producing areas.

On the other hand, wheat and rice continued to trade around previous levels on restricted activity.

Traders said increased offtake by stockists followed by pick up in industrial demand against limited arrivals from the producing regions, pushed up select wholesale grains prices.

In the national capital, jowar yellow and white prices rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,100-1,175 and Rs 1,600-1,650 per quintal.

Maize and barley were also seen in demand and traded higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 960-970 and Rs 960-980 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Wheat MP (deshi) 1,700-1,800, wheat dara (for mills) 1,190-1,195 chakki atta (delivery) 1,195-1,200, atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 175, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 175, Roller flour mill 615-635 (50 kg), Maida 690-720 (50 kilos) and Sooji 730-750 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,300, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,250-5,350, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,550-5,050, Permal raw 1,725-1,775, Permal wand 1,825-1975, Sela 2,025-2,075 and Rice IR-8-1,550-1,575, Bajra 940-950, Jowar yellow 1100-1,175, white 1,600-1,650, Maize 960-970, Barley (UP) 960-980 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
