In limited deals, select spice prices rose up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today influenced by the increased buying by retailers and stockists amid tight stocks.
Tight stocks from producing belts, following fall in supplies also supported the upside in prices.
Black pepper and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 each to Rs 21,900-22,000 and Rs 16,100-19,100 per quintal, respectively.
Red chilli prices surged by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 5,500-10,200 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded higher at Rs 13,400-13,700 and Rs 14,500-15,000 against previous closing of Rs 13,100-13,400 and Rs 14,200-14,700 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said increased buying by retailers and stockists due to marriage season against tight supplies from growing regions mainly pushed up select spice prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
