Selling continues, Sensex drops 180 pts

After dropping over 150 points in early trades, the Sensex has shed more ground in mid-morning trades to touch a low of 6,278 as selling continues across-the-board. The Sensex is now down 180 points at 6,268, while the Nifty has lost 59 points to 1,966.

Infosys has tumbled 6% (Rs 126) to Rs 1,976. While Satyam has shed 4.67% (Rs 19) to Rs 388, Wipro has lost 4.79% (Rs 31) to Rs 615.

Reliance has dropped 2% (Rs 11) to Rs 534. ONGC has dipped 2.78% (Rs 24) to Rs 853, and ITC has lost 2% (Rs 29) to Rs 1,387.

SBI has scaled down 2.11% (Rs 14) to Rs 632. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have lost 3% each to Rs 399 (down Rs 13) and Rs 544 (down Rs 18), respectively.

Dr. Reddy's has dropped 3.39% (Rs 25) to Rs 712, while Cipla is down 3.37% (Rs 8) at Rs 241. Ranbaxy has lost 2.52% (Rs 25) to Rs 961.

Bajaj has trimmed its losses to Rs 1,068 - down Rs 17 or 1.53%. Hero Honda at Rs 507 (down Rs 7 or 1.29%), Maruti at Rs 405 (down Rs 7 or 1.69%) and Tata Motors at Rs 412 (down Rs 13 or 3%) are reeling under selling pressure.

Hindalco has crashed 5% (Rs 68) to Rs 1,261. While HDFC has declined 3.17% (Rs 23) to Rs 700, Bharti has lost 2.74% (Rs 6) to Rs 201. Tisco is down 2.73% (Rs 10) at Rs 370.
