Selling intensifies

After slipping into the red in late morning trades, the market has shed more ground owing to further profit-taking in old and new economy stocks. The Sensex, as a result, has lost 24 points to 6,596, off its low of 6,585. The Nifty, too, has edged lower by 15 points to 2,064.

Reliance has slipped by a per cent (Rs 6) to Rs 536. SBI has lost 1.17% (Rs 8) to Rs 648. HDFC Bank at Rs 569 (down Rs 3) and ICICI Bank at Rs 365 (down Rs 4) are also trading at lower levels.

Infosys is still trading with a per cent loss (Rs 20) at Rs 2,083. While Satyam is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 405, Wipro is holding on to its gains at Rs 702 - up Rs 8.

While ONGC is trading with a per cent loss (Rs 5) at Rs 828, HPCL has inched lower by 1.36% (Rs 5) at Rs 363.

BHEL has scaled down by 1.56% (Rs 12) to Rs 784, and Bharti is down 1.21% (Rs 3) at Rs 217.

ITC (up Rs 13 to Rs 1,342) is trading off-highs, while HLL is up a rupee at Rs 167.
