Selling intensifies, Sensex drops 43 pts

After moving with 20-30 points loss in mid-morning trades, the market has come under sharp correction thereafter, with selling seen in almost all the sectors.

The Sensex has slipped below the 6,200 mark, and is down 43 points at 6,180. The Nifty has declined 14 points to 1,938.

Reliance is down 1.14% (Rs 6) at Rs 520. While HLL has lost 2.52% (Rs 4) to Rs 1,38, ITC is down Rs 3 at Rs 1,269 after early gains.

Infosys is trading at subdued levels with a loss of Rs 8 at Rs 1,963. Wipro and Satyam are up a per cent each at Rs 679 and Rs 374, respectively.

Ranbaxy has slumped 4% (Rs 45) to Rs 1,065. While Dr. Reddy's has dropped 4.22% (Rs 32) to Rs 732, Cipla has shed 2.20% (Rs 6) to Rs 262.

SBI is trading marginally down at Rs 586 - down Rs 2. While HDFC Bank is down a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 477, ICICI Bank is trading lower by 1.51% (Rs 5) at Rs 345.

Zee has tumbled 3% (Rs 5) to Rs 158. While Reliance Energy has shed 2.81% (Rs 14) to Rs 502, Tata Power has declined 2.79% (Rs 10) to Rs 345. HPCL has scaled down 2.77% (Rs 10) to Rs 366. ONGC, however, is up with a small gain of Rs 2 at Rs 783.

Hero Honda (down Rs 13 or 2.30% to Rs 560) and Bajaj (down Rs 8 to Rs 1,095) are trading at lower levels. Tata Motors and Maruti are up a per cent each at Rs 484 and Rs 432, respectively.

Grasim has gained 1.27% (Rs 5) to Rs 401. While ACC is still up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 337, Grasim is trading on a flat note at Rs 1,245.

Bharti is up a tad at Rs 200 after early weakness.
