The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 107 points at 18,526, and did not bother to look back. Unabated buying in the market saw the index zoom past the 19,000 milestone for the first time ever.

The index touched a fresh all-time intra-day high of 19,096, and finally ended (provisional) with a smart gain of ..% (665 points) at 19,084.

The index took just four trading sessions to log the last 1,000 points.
