Sensex advances 31 pts

The Sensex has advanced 31 points to 6,378 as further buying has emerged in select tech, banking and cement majors. The Nifty has added five points to 1,972.

Satyam has advanced 3.93% (Rs 16) to Rs 421. While Wipro is steady at 1.61% (Rs 10) at Rs 655, Infosys is still trading at subdued levels with a loss of Rs 5 at Rs 1,993.

ICICI Bank has moved up 1.90% (Rs 7) to Rs 403. While SBI has moved up a per cent (Rs 6) to Rs 627, HDFC Bank is up a rupee at Rs 540.

ONGC has added Rs 3 to Rs 857. ITC and HLL are still up a rupee each at Rs 1,394 and Rs 133, respectively. Reliance is up a notch at Rs 547.

Grasim has added 1.23% (Rs 15) to Rs 1,214. While Gujarat Ambuja has gained 1.14% (Rs 5) to Rs 4539, ACC has inched up its gains by 1.26% (Rs 5) to Rs 381.

Tisco has added 1.11% (Rs 4) to Rs 366. While HDFC is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 730, Tata Power is weak at Rs 359 - down Rs 3.

Bajaj (down Rs 5 to Rs 1,075) is trading at lower levels. Hero Honda, Maruti and Tata Motors are up Rs 2 each at Rs 508, Rs 441 and Rs 438, respectively.

Dr. Reddy's has lost 2.35% (Rs 16) to Rs 666. While Ranbaxy has dropped 1.10% (Rs 10) to Rs 915, Cipla is down a rupee at Rs 243.
