Sensex at 7,100-level in early trades

The Sensex opened higher at 7,080 (up four points over its last close of 7,076), and breached the 7,100-mark on selective buying in old and new economy stocks to touch a high of 7,107.

It is now up 24 points at 7,100, while the Nifty has added 11 points to 2,181.

ONGC has gained a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 954, while HLL is up 1.90% (Rs 3) at Rs 155. Reliance, however, is down a tad at Rs 646.

SBI and ICICI Bank have resumed with steady gains at Rs 667 and Rs 420, respectively. HDFC Bank has slipped a per cent (Rs 4) to Rs 597.

TCS has advanced 1.55% (Rs 20) to Rs 1,324. Infosys has lost a per cent (Rs 17) to Rs 2375. Wipro (down Rs 2 to Rs 755) and Satyam (down Rs 3 to Rs 505), too, have eased in early trades.

Dr. Reddy's has added 1.42% (Rs 10) to Rs 732. Other cement majors have resumed on a flat note.

Bajaj is up a per cent (Rs 12) at Rs 1,260, and HDFC is up 1.50% (Rs 13) at Rs 856.
