Sensex at a new high, now up 112pts

The Sensex soared to a new all-time intra-day high of 10,713, and is now up 112 points at 10,707.

Reliance Energy, Tata Motors and NTPC have surged over 3% each to Rs 655, Rs 933 and Rs 135, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's, Tata Power and Hindalco have rallied 2.5% each to Rs 1,357, Rs 561 and Rs 162, respectively.

Tata Steel has spurted 2% to Rs 464.

ITC, BHEL, HDFC, Cipla, Bajaj Auto, Larsen & Toubro and Satyam have gained 1-2% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,192 stocks traded so far, 1,352 have advanced, 764 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Reliance Communications Ventures dropped to a low of Rs 277, and is now at Rs 285. The stock has seen a huge volume of around 1.02 crore shares.

KEC Infrastructure has zoomed over 16% to Rs 52 followed by Kalpatru Power, up 10.5% at Rs 1,370. Essel Propack, Educomp Solutions, Uttam Galva, Amar Remedies, Amara Raja Batteries, Panacea Biotech, MRPL, JSW Steel, Jindal Steel, Pidilite, i-flex, FACT and Cummins are the other significant gainers.
