Sensex at day's high, up 311pts; L&T soars 5.5%

The Sensex is now at the day's high of 10,977 - up 311 points.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 5.5% to Rs 2,422. Cipla has soared 3.7% to Rs 232.

ITC and Maruti and surged 3.5% each to Rs 187 and Rs 806, respectively.

Bajaj Auto, Infosys and BHEL have gained over 3% each at Rs 2,880, Rs 2,927 and Rs 1,960, respectively.

Tata Motors, NTPC and Satyam are also trading with smart gains.

Bharti Tele has declined 1.3% to Rs 388.
