The Sensex has touched a low of 14,742, down 459 points from the day's high. The index is now at 14,773, down 331 points.
Realty index has tumbled 9% to 3,671. The Metal and the Bankex index are the other major laggards.
DLF has slumped 8% to Rs 375.
Tata Steel and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped 7.5% each to Rs 429 and Rs 214, respectively.
Reliance Communications has declined 7% to Rs 315.
Reliance Infrastructures and SBI have slumped 6% each to Rs 1,152 and Rs 1,705, respectively.
Ranbaxy, Hindalco, ONGC, HDFC, Sterlite, ICICI Bank, ITC, Tata Motors and ACC have declined 3-5.5% each.
BHEL, NTPC, HDFC, Grasim and Larsen & Toubro are down 1-3% each.
Wipro has added over 3% to Rs 406. Infosys and Tata Steel have gained 2-3% each.
The breadth is negative, out of 2,826 shares traded, 639 have advanced and 2,148 have declined so far on the BSE.
