Sensex at day's low, plunges 623pts

The Sensex has plunged to the day's low, and is now down 623 points at 10,164.

ONGC has plunged over 9% to Rs 1,070. Grasim has tumbled over 8% to Rs 1,722. Tata Steel and ITC have shed nearly 8% each to Rs 505 and Rs 163, respectively.

HDFC and Hero Honda have dropped 7% each to Rs 1,102 and Rs 749, respectively.

Cipla, Maruti, Hindalco and ICICI Bank are the other major losers.

Out of 2,347 stocks traded so far, 2,125 have declined, 190 have advanced and 32 are unchanged.
