Sensex below May 22 low, drops 146pts

The Sensex has cracked below its recent May 22 low of 9827. The index is now down 146 points at 9811.

ONGC has shed almost 4% to Rs 1,000. NTPC and Ranbaxy have dropped 3.7% each to Rs 102 and Rs 374, respectively.

Reliance Energy has tumbled 3.5% to Rs 410. SBI and Hindalco have slipped nearly 3% each to Rs 816 and Rs 156, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's is down 2.5% at Rs 1,237. Hero Honda and Gujarat Ambuja have declined 1.7% each to Rs 745 and Rs 88, respectively.

Out of 2,180 stocks traded so far, 1,944 have declined, 209 have advanced and the are unchanged.
