Sensex bounces back, ends up 151pts

Following yeterday's near 300 points loss, the Sensex today opened flat at 14,506 and slipped in to the negative terrain to touch a low of 14,355.

The index however rebounded into the positive terrain on the back of firm opening of the European markets coupled with buying in the realty stocks. The index rallied to a high of 14,727, up 372 points from the day's low.

The Sensex however pared some of its gains towards the close to finally end at 14,645, up 151 points.

The market breadth, however, was marginally negative - out of 2,673 shares traded, 1,339 declined and 1,255 advanced.

 

The BSE Realty index gained 4% at 3,343.

INDEX MOVERS...

DLF soared around 5% to Rs 326. Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Communications advanced  3% each to Rs 714, Rs 1,233 and Rs 298, respectively.

Tata Motors , Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma gained over 2.5% each at Rs 299, Rs 823 and Rs 1,118, respectively.

SBI, Hindustan Unilever, Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance were up 1.5% each.

...AND THE SHAKERS

Hindalco slipped 3.5% to Rs 83. ONGC  was down around 1.5% at Rs 1,053.

VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERS

Educomp Solutions topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 427.51 crore. It was followed by Reliance Capital ( Rs 262.69 crore), Reliance (Rs 234.56 crore), Suzlon (Rs 197.17 crore) and HDIL (Rs 189.67 crore).

Unitech led the value chart with trades of 20.57 million shares. It was followed by  Ispat (18.98 million), Suzlon (18.70 million), NIIT (17.06 million) and Reliance Natural Resources (15.42 million).
