Sensex crosses 10,700, now up 139pts

The Sensex has crossed the 10,700-mark. The index touched a high of 10,705, and is now up 139 points at 10,704.

Bharti Tele has soared to a high of Rs 400, and is now up 5% at Rs 397. Tata Steel has surged 3.3% to Rs 457.

Tata Power has rallied 2.8% to Rs 537.

ONGC has gained 2.5% at Rs 1,150. Maruti and ITC have moved up 2.3% each to Rs 905 and Rs 178, respectively.

SBI, Wipro, Hindalco, Hero Honda, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, Tata Motors, Gujarat Ambuja, Reliance, Larsen &Toubro, ACC, HDFC Bank and NTPC are up 1-2% each.

Infosys has slipped nearly 1% to Rs 2,880. Dr.Reddy's is the only other notable loser among the Sensex stocks.

The market breadth is almost even. Out of 2,407 stocks traded so far, 1,253 have advanced, 1,085 have declined and 69 are unchanged.

Maruti tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 169.14 crore followed by Sadbhav Engineering (Rs 123.36 crore), Sunil Hitech (Rs 102.91 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 66.15 crore) and Reliane (Rs 63.82 crore).

Sunil Hitech leads the volume chart with trades of around 64 lakh shares followed by IDFC (57.50 lakh), Reliance Natural Resources (46.65 lakh), Sadbhav Engineering (35 lakh) and Ashok Leyland (31.55 lakh).
