Sensex crosses 11,800-mark, now up 161pts

The Sensex has crossed the 11,800-mark, and is now up 161 points at 11,808.

The Metal index has surged 2.4% to 10,303.

Cipla has rallied 5.4% to Rs 261. HDFC has advanced 2% to Rs 1,280.

Hindalco has surged 2.4% to Rs 211, and Tata Steel is up 2.2% at Rs 637.

Infosys has moved up over 2% to Rs 3,215.

OTHER GAINERS & LOSERS

FACT has zoomed nearly 12% to Rs 31.90. Hindustan Zinc, Hinduja TMT, Sterlite Industries, Bombay Dyeing, Sterlite Optical, Suzlon, Tata Elxsi and IndusInd Bank are the other major gainers.

VisualSoft, IPCL, GTL, Wockhardt, Finolex Cables and Indo Rama Synthetics are in declining mode.
