Sensex crosses 11,900; Infosys zooms 9%

The Sensex opened with a huge positive gap of 98 points at 11,845. A huge spurge in Infosys saw the index zoom to touch a new all-time intra-day high of 11,931. The index is now up 108 points at 11,855.

Infosys has zoomed 9% to Rs 3,400 on plans of a bonus issue. The company today announced that its board will meet on April 14 to consider a proposal for bonus issue of equity shares.

TCS has soared 3.6% to Rs 1,999. Wipro has rallied 2% to Rs 569.

Hindalco has moved up 2.2% to Rs 191.

ONGC, NTPC, Tata Steel, Cipla, Bharti Tele and Larsen & Toubro are the other major gainers among the Sensex stocks.

ICICI Bank and Ranbaxy have dropped 1% each.
