Sensex crosses 11,900, now up 228pts at 11,875

The Sensex zoomed to a high of 11,900, and is now up 228 points at 11,875.

The BSE Metal index has soared 2.5% to 10,325. The FMCG, IT and Oil & Gas indices rallied around 2% each to 2,274, 4,077 and 5,610, respectively.

Cipla has surged 5.5% to Rs 261. ONGC has soared over 4% to Rs 1,377. HDFC has rallied 3.6% to Rs 1,300.

HDFC Bank, Tata Motors and Grasim have gained 3% each at Rs 852, Rs 945 and Rs 2,368, respectively.

Tata Steel (Rs 641), Bajaj Auto (Rs 2,915) and ACC (Rs 948) are up nearly 3% each.

Out of 2,411 stocks traded so far, 1,616 have advanced, 731 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
