| The Sensex crossed the 18,000-mark on the back of renewed buying today. The index hit a fresh all-time intra-day high of 18,002, and is now up 507 points at 17,999. Earlier in the day, the index opened with a negative gap of 89 points at 17,402, and soon tumbled to a low of 17,287. The index is now up 712 points from the day's low. The last 1,000 points took just eight trading days.
