Sensex down 1,240pts; Wipro slumps 18%

The Sensex is now down 1,240 points at 16,365.

The NSE Nifty is down 431 points at 4,777.

Wipro has crashed 18% to Rs 360. Reliance Energy has nose-dived 15% to Rs 1,510.

ITC and Ambuja Cements have slumped 12% each to Rs 179 and Rs 112, respectively.

Reliance Communications and ONGC have plunged over 11% each to Rs 543 and Rs 990, respectively.

HDFC and Tata Steel have shed around 10% each at Rs 2,430 and Rs 652, respectively.

Cipla and DLF have dropped over 9% each to Rs 173 and Rs 820, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and TCS have slipped 8.5% each to Rs 615 and Rs 764, respectively. NTPC had plunged over 8% to Rs 189.

Reliance has shed 7.6% at Rs 2,350. HDFC Bank and Ranbaxy have declined around 7% each to Rs 1,407 and Rs 338, respectively.
