Sensex down 1,288pts, REL, RCom plunge 9%

The markets reopened for trading recovered a bit but are still down significantly.

The Sensex is now down 1,288 points at 17,764.

The Nifty is now down 401 points at 5267.

Reliance Energy and Reliance Communications have tumbled around 9% each to Rs 1,729 and Rs 694, respectively.

ICICI Bank, BHEL, HDFC Bank, ACC, Hindalco and Bharti Airtel are the other major losers.
