Sensex down 10 pts

The market displayed volatility in the opening bell. After resuming six points lower over its yesterday's close at 6,529, the index bounced back into the green on selective buying to touch an early high of 6,552.

Selling, however, in old and new economy stocks saw the index slip into the red to touch a low of 6,508.

The Sensex is now down 10 points at 6,525, and the Nifty is down a point at 2,054.

ITC and HLL are trading a per cent lower each at Rs 2,028 (down Rs 7) and Rs 161 (down Rs 2), respectively. Reliance, however, is up a rupee at Rs 531.

Infosys is down a rupee at Rs 2,208, after resuming in the green. While also Satyam is trading weak at Rs 401 (down Rs 3), Wipro, however, is up Rs 2 at Rs 690.

ONGC is trading with a loss of Rs 5 at Rs 817.

SBI is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 639, and ICICI Bank is down a tad at Rs 360. HDFC Bank, however, is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 564.

Bharti is down nearly 2% (Rs 4) at Rs 216, and L&T has slipped a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 966. Tata Power is also trading at lower levels at Rs 385 - down Rs 5.

Dr. Reddy's has added 1.14% (Rs 8) to Rs 735. Other pharma stocks, however, are trading in the red.

Auto and cement stocks, too, are trading weak in early trades.
