Sensex down 100 pts

The markets after a breif recovery have slipped back a wee bit. The Sensex is now down 100 points at 17,777. The NSE Nifty is down 25 points at 5,328.

Sterlite Industries has slipped over 2% to Rs 180. Jindal Steel too has declined nearly 2% to Rs 674.

ACC, Tata Steel and Wipro are down around 1.5% each at Rs 868, Rs 497 and Rs 409, respectively.

Hindalco, Infosys and Jairprakash Associates are the other notable losers.

Hindustan Unilever has extended gains and is now up over 2% at Rs 265. ITC too has added 1.3% to Rs 303.

The market breadth has turned marginally positive - out of 2,919 stocks traded so far, 1,406 have advanced, 1,385 have declined.
