Sensex down 102pts; NTPC soars 4%

The Sensex is now down 102 points at 14,261.

Tata Steel has plunged 3.5% to Rs 635. Reliance Communications has slipped 2.5% to Rs 498.

Hero Honda and HDFC have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 680 and Rs 1,768, respectively.

ACC and HDFC Bank have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 872 and Rs 1,093, respectively.

Ranbaxy and Larsen & Toubro have declined 1.4% each to Rs 384 and Rs 1,707, respectively. Grasim is down 1% at Rs 2,477.

NTPC has soared 4% to Rs 162. HLL has gained 1.5% at Rs 201.

Satyam and Infosys are the other prominent gainers.

Out of 2,619 stocks traded so far, 1,430 have declined, 1,096 have advanced and 93 are unchanged.
