Sensex down 103pts; Cipla drops 5%

The Sensex is now down 103 points at 11,732.

Earlier in the day, the Sensex slumped to a low of 11,345 - down 490 points in early trades following Sebi's order on the IPO scam. However, it recovered most of its losses and touched a high of 11,803.

NTPC has rallied 2.2% to Rs 132. ACC has surged 2% to Rs 952, and HLL has gained 1% at Rs 290.

Cipla has slumped 4.6% to Rs 248. Hindalco has dropped 3.3% to Rs 210, and Tata Steel is down 2.2% at Rs 625.

HDFC Bank has declined 2.6% to Rs 802. Wipro, ONGC and Tata Motors are down over 2% each at Rs 532, Rs 1,276 and Rs 919, respectively.

Tata Power, TCS and Satyam are also languishing in red with significant losses.

Out of 2,180 stocks traded so far, 1,447 have declined, 689 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
